Public engagement with contemporary art, artists, and ideas will be at the core of the Gallery’s exhibition making practice, because it strives to make contemporary art not only accessible but relevant to people from all walks of life. Seeking synergies between the local and the global, Malcolm Smith Gallery will foreground projects engaging with contemporary discourses in art and related fields reflective of the best in national work, thereby developing the practice and appreciation of contemporary art in East Auckland. Come to UXBRIDGE for children's after school classes, adult evening classes, daytime art classes, school holiday programmes, weekend workshops, yoga classes, pilates classes, zumba classes and language classes in Howick. Malcolm Smith Gallery is the UXBRIDGE Gallery and is the premiere destination for contemporary art in Howick.

Malcolm Smith Gallery is portion of a ingenious cluster of operations at UXBRIDGE Arts Culture, which also includes a theater for performances and cinema, and studios for courses in painting, pottery, jewellery, and more. This series of commissioned artworks by four of Auckland’s hottest emerging talent is about how the fresh architecture of UXBRIDGE impresses itself on the artists, and in turn, how the artists respond to the fresh building and its surroundings. You will learn all the processes involved in making glass objects and you will make your own pretty crystal glass house to receive home.
