What you should know about West Brook Winery
Private groups of 1 to 8 people are welcome to have a tasting at the cellar door, no booking is needed and there is no charge. In 1980 Anthony and Susan purchased 32 acres of land at Riverhead north west of Auckland, which had some established vineyard. That year, Mick and his cousin planted a vineyard in Awaroa Road in Henderson and Tony went to school. Each wine in each and every tank or barrel is monitored throughout every stage of its fermentation period.
Tony maintained his schooling in English at Orin School with the local children. Smaller rocks broke off on a number of other occasions and smashed through the tiles on the roof of the house. In fact the beginning Sauvignon Blanca, grown commercially in Fresh Zealand was from this region. One of our knowledgeable and friendly staff will receive you through a selection of wines, teaching you a bit about how the wines are crafted helping you profit an thankfulness for the unique qualities of each wine.
Mick Ivicevich was born in a stone house in Podosmina but he traveled to New Zealand in 1904, where he was gum digging at Awanui in the far north for a number of years. Mary and Tony had a daughter Diana and a son Dennis who died at the age of 3, and a son Anthony. He grew up on the vineyard, always liked occupied there during the school holidays, and now works for one of New Zealands largest wine producers. In 1945 Mick’s son Tony married Mary title who lived following door, and worked in her Uncle’s Auckland restaurant.
North west, wine beer, food festival 2017 gets your ticket today available at West Brook Winery Cellar Door. A cellar was built in 1936 at a cost of 190, where Mick, Tony and Mick’s cousin Tony Ivicevich lived for a number of years. West Brook is now making the ravishing vineyard location available for weddings in conjunction with The Huge Catering Company who are the undisputed market leader in the corporate, private and weddings market. Group bookings of 8 to a greatest of 24 is available in our private upstairs tasting room overlooking the winery and barrel hall, where you will be served and guided through your tasting of a range of wines.
After a time of unsettled business partnership with Panorama Wines, Tony bought out Mick’s Uncle Tony’s shares in the business and property, and relocated the wine re sellers license from 155 to 239 Symonds Street, to larger premises where wine could now be sold by the half gallon and single bottle.
